About Poppy

Poppy Murray is a writer, public speaker and campaigner from Guernsey with a background in journalism. She founded the BE LADS and BE GUYS campaigns in March 2021, in the wake of the tragic case of Sarah Everard. BE LADS/GUYS is directed at men to raise awareness of women’s safety when walking alone and to give men simple, effective advice on the role they can play in supporting women.

Some of Poppy’s accolades include:

  • First civilian speaker at the UN HeForShe UK Police Ally Event
  • Youngest Trustee on the Board of the prestigious Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands
  • Listed as a “Future Iconic Woman of Guernsey” by Women In Public Life

  • Founder and Chair of the Safety Night-Time Economy Team (Guernsey registered charity CH1035)
